From Ricky Skaggs, to Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, to Midori, to Phoebe Snow, to BETTY, to Charlie Daniels, we heard you tell us that we delighted you over and over with stellar performances and terrific visual art.

An Appalachian Summer Festival is pleased to announce that Preston Lane has signed on as the festival's Artistic Partner for Theatre Programming. A native of Boone, Lane is Founding Artistic Director of Triad Stage in Greensboro, NC.

With Lane assuming the role as Artistic Partner for Theatre Programming, An Appalachian Summer Festival's Artistic Partnership Team is now fully assembled. Working in collaboration with the festival staff, this team sets the vision for festival programming, advises the festival on specific artists and programs, and shares valuable industry contacts that assist in booking festival artists each season.

In only its first week of release, Broyhill Chamber Ensemble Artistic Director Gil Morgenstern and Darrett Adkins' new album 20th Century Duos for Violin and Cello has hit #1 on eMusic's Classical Album Charts.

In October 2007, a delegation from Appalachian State University and the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts (TCVA) traveled to China in preparation for Dancing with the Dragon, TCVA's Summer 2008 exhibition and education outreach program familiarizing people in the community with contemporary art from China.

An Appalachian Summer Festival is a multi- and inter-disciplinary arts festival presenting and producing programs in music, theatre, dance, film and visual arts. The festival will forge a unique national identity through artistic excellence, innovative programming, commissioning new works, and educational opportunities. By bringing the most accomplished and respected creative and performing artists from around the world to Appalachian State University, the festival supports the overall university mission, enhances the cultural life of the Appalachian community, and serves as an important gateway onto the campus.
